Packaging FAQ

You’ve received a Honeywell Bakes gift, it’s delicious, perfect, some might say it’s a piece of edible art!

So let’s complete this perfect gift experience and help you to reuse or recycle the packaging with our handy Packaging FAQ.

WHY WE’VE MOVED AWAY FROM COMPOSTABLE BAGS, FOR NOW.

We’re transitioning away from compostable bags. Despite their eco-friendly reputation, they often require specific conditions to decompose fully, making them less sustainable than initially perceived. Our commitment to environmental stewardship drives this decision, as we continuously seek alternatives that offer a more significant positive impact.

Read more about how to recycle our packaging below.

GREEN WAYS TO SAVE OUR PACKAGING FROM LANDFILL

Honeywell Bakes Outer Packaging

POSTAGE BAGS

recyclable and industrially compostable. Keep them for posting those things from the bottom of the wardrobe that you finally get around to selling, or reuse at home by turning them into book covers, gift tags or draw liners.

Honeywell Bakes Packaging Tape

PACKAGING TAPE

Paper tape is recyclable, our clear tape is zero plastic sellotape and is industrially compostable.

WRAPPING PAPER

Reusable, recyclable and home compostable.

CARDBOARD & PAPER

Ethically and sustainably sourced, and recyclable and home compostable. We make our own shredded infill packaging in house from pre loved cardboard boxes.

Greaseproof paper

GREASEPROOF PAPER

Unfortunately not recyclable or compostable (yet!) but most definitely reusable.

Piping Bags

PLASTIC BAGS AND PIPING BAGS

Recycled and recyclable (they may need to go to a collection point which are often at supermarkets, read more below), we are working hard to find a compostable option.

SOFT PLASTIC RECYCLING

As we move to soft plastic bags (until the government provides commercial composting to every household in March 2026) we want you to have all the resources to recycle your soft plastics.

Click the link below to find out if soft plastic recycling is available as a kerbside pic up in your area.

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR LOCAL AUTHORITY DOESN’T OFFER KERBSIDE COLLECTIONS ... YET?

Scroll to the bottom of the link above and you’ll be able to search where to drop off your soft plastic recycling. There are lots of local supermarkets that offer drop off bins in store.

Here in the bakery, we’ve set up a recycling station to make it easy for our team to bring in their soft plastics like crisp and cheese packets from home.  When the bin is completely stuffed we take it to local supermarket to be recycled.
