A cake to celebrate Burns night (another we have done for Catch My Party) – a Burns supper is a celebration of the life and poetry of the poet Robert Burns, author of many Scottish poems. The suppers are normally held on the poet’s birthday (Burns night), 25 January, and typically include haggis (a traditional Scottish dish celebrated by Burns in Address to a Haggis), Scotch whisky, and the recitation of Burns’ poetry.
This cake is not just for whiskey lovers – we don’t really like to drink whiskey all that much, but this cake is delicious! If you really don’t fancy the whiskey, try substituting it for orange juice.
