This recipe for Apple and Sultana Flapjacks is another great one to pack in the lunch boxes. We’ve managed to sneak in some goodness to try and counteract the sugar, but a little slice of this will definitely do no harm. You can change them up by adding any extra ingredients you fancy, whether thats chopped nuts or maybe a drizzle of dark chocolate.
Ingredients (makes 9-12 slices)
115g butter
75g soft brown sugar
100g golden syrup
250g oats
1 tsp cinnamon
1 apple, chopped into small chunks
50g sultanas
Method
Preheat the oven to 180C/160C fan and line and grease a 20cm square tin.
Place the butter, sugar and syrup into a medium sauce pan and heat until melted. Remove from the heat and add in the oats and cinnamon. Mix well before adding the chopped apple and sultanas. Stir until combined and pour into the prepared tin.
Press down the mixture using the back of a spoon until even and place in the oven for 40 minutes. Leave to cool in the tray before cutting into 9 or 12 squares.
